The answer doesn't depend on whom you trust. It depends on where your data is and how the path to it is built. Four architectural decisions — each with consequences you can verify.
One house, one database
Typical business software runs hundreds of companies in one database, separated by a field in a table. If that one line of code fails, someone else's data is exposed. On your server, your data stands alone — there's no line that has to hold.
There is no middle
No data center where all businesses converge — and thus no single point where one breach hits a thousand companies at once. Your data is not part of a lucrative target.
Login needs no third party
The second factor is calculated on your phone, by open standard, from a secret shared only between your device and server. In the login chain stands no one who could fail or be compromised.
Code proves itself
Each program file gets a checksum and signature at setup. On every start, the system verifies. If a file deviates, it shows in the cockpit — you don't need to trust anyone that software runs unchanged.
